COVID-19

Ware Swimming Club is proud of being a club that values sport both as participants and spectators at all levels, but this period is clearly an uncertain time for the resumption of sport. The public health crisis associated with the Coronavirus pandemic has created unprecedented challenges with training and competitive sport, with lockdown measures in place since March preventing most forms of sport, recreation and leisure.

Swim England have provided guidance and advice, published on 20th June, outlining the return to swimming based on Government guidelines. The guidance acknowledges the complexity of the sector, where club will be working within unique sets of circumstances and responding to local contexts. It also exists within a continuously changing legislative landscape and should be considered alongside existing, general principles and regulations. This guidance does not fully repeat the guidance already available, but supplements that guidance with specific advice for our sector. It has been designed to assist individual sportspeople, clubs and organisations to deliver a safe return to organised training and competitive sport for athletes and staff, while adhering to social distancing guidelines

To comply with the COVID-19 Return to training guidelines from Swim England, we will need to make some changes to the session timings in order to accommodate all swimmers. Where possible we will endeavour to ensure that swimmers are in the same sessions pre COVID-19. Please note that we may also need to adjust the cost of sessions and this will depend on the number of swimmers per session.

Please ensure you have filled out our online COVID-19 Health Survey prior to your first session. You can complete it on your phone or computer in 2-3 minutes, and you only need to complete it once. If the survey is not completed you will not be able to swim.

Please do not attend training sessions if:

  • You have had confirmed COVID-19 infection or any symptoms (fever, persistent cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, diarrhoea or vomiting, muscle aches not related to sport) in the last 5 months.
  • You have had a known exposure to anyone with confirmed or suspected Covid 19 in the last 2 weeks.
If you or your family have recently returned from abroad, please ensure that you adhere to the Government Guidelines for the specific country and quarantine for 14 days if needed. Please also adhere to social distancing and do not share lifts to and from training sessions.

We're delighted that we're able to return to training. Please follow the Club and Swim England COVID-19 guidelines to ensure a safe environment for all our swimmers and club members.
