Ware Swimming Club relies on fundraising events to raise money to run successfully. Without this money we would not be able to run events such as the German Exchange. If you cannot attend events why not make a donation or buy some raffle tickets? If you have any other fundraising ideas please speak to a member of the committee. |

Ware Vs Wulfrath Ware Vs Wulfrath Ware Vs Wulfrath Yes it is that time of year again!!! This year it is our turn to travel to Germany for the highlight of the club’s year. Training is in full flow with less than two weeks to go until we depart. The squad can be found training on Tuesday nights competing against each other and working towards achieving the best possible times and that’s just the wrinkly team. The wrinkly team had great success last year dominating the race and with five willing volunteers this year and only four places in the squad the selection process has been tense. Last week came the dramatic climax, the moment we had all been waiting for, the swim off!!! Unfortunately I cannot reveal the team as this could jeopardise their chances should the squads names be linked to our German rivals!! On a more serious note is great to see so many of the team turning up to training on a Tuesday. It is important to remember that whilst Germany is great fun it is all about the swimming gala. The whole exchange is based around the opportunity to compete against our German friends. Make no mistake the German team take this competition very seriously with their squad training all year for this one day. A running tally of wins has been kept over the many years this has taken place with Ware currently losing to Wulfrath. Any swimmer selected to take part in the gala should be honoured to be part of the history of the exchange. All swimmers are asked to approach this gala with a focused positive attitude. Many of you will be asked to swim several races, and many of you will feel absolutely exhausted, but to compete in this competition you will be expected to give your all!! We are swimming as a team and every point helps. The atmosphere is amazing and the swimmers that put in the work and swim with the right approach, not just in the gala but in the remaining training sessions, quite often find that in this competition they will come away with a PB, and in some cases a club record. Swimmers going to Germany are reminded to bring their swimming stuff (and accompanying adults as there is a chance you will get pushed in!! ). Also please remember a gift for your host by way of a thank you for your bed and food!! Passports should be packed in your hand luggage to go on to the bus not below it. You really do not want to be the one we have to unpack the bus for at the ferry! The last night is the gala evening and we ask that swimmers make the effort to attend in smart dress not your football shirt etc please!! Anyway enough of the lecture! Please can we take this opportunity to ask swimmers to bring as many tooters and hooters etc as possible. We would like to be the noisiest team! Also if you have any England flags or banners etc please feel free to bring them along. The team is due to leave Fanshawe at 6am Monday 13 April and all that remains is on behalf of Ware Swimming Club to wish our squad named below the very best of luck!
